THEME: Going for the harvest.
John 4
35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
Luke 15:5
And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
Dear Saints,
Ones again in this bulletin we are now going even deeper in the truths of God’s Word in regard to the harvest. First, we need to know it’s a privilege to be given the opportunity to go for the harvest, in our heavenly Father’s vineyard. A quick look at our theme scriptures tells us that “the harvest” (not for maize or beans) is ready. This harvest is for souls. These souls are referred to in Luke 5 as the “lost sheep”. They are “white” (you cannot miss them), already to harvest. Why is that “lost sheep” so important?
We saw last week that, that “ONE LOST SHEEP”, is really in danger. It has no protection and no direction. It is vulnerable to danger; it can get hurt, get killed, or even kill itself. It has no constraints whatsoever, No one knows where it is, and neither does it know where it is, and cannot go back home cause it doesn’t know the way. Worst of all, it does not know that it’s lost. Doesn’t all this sound familiar in that this is exactly what is going on in the lives of those who are “lost”? And now without exception, all of us are placed in the place of a shepherd, LOOKING FOR THAT ONE LOST SHEEP. The great commission puts us in this position. It says in,
Mark 16:15
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
No one shall escape this. It is a command, not a suggestion. So when we talk of commandments, this is one of them. We know what people are going through as discussed above cause we too went through the same things. We thought things were going on great but deep down in our hearts, we were empty, unhappy, dissatisfied, unsure of where we were going or where we are coming from. Life was a mystery. That void was ever present. We were suffering without hope and without God. But someone helped us by either inviting us to church or telling us about the goodness of God. Child of God, we should never let anyone around us, stay “lost”…we can help. We know the way, we have the “go ahead” to reach others…and The Lord is working with us. Mark 16:20.
The commission is clear, the tools for the job have been provided. The “ball” is on your side…. what will you do with it? We must determine and CHOOSE (Cause It’s up to you…NOT GOD) to be a DOER, or just a hearer of the Word. There are consequences of being just a hearer and not a doer…do they get the greatest reward?
