APPLICATION OF THE WISDOM OF GOD
In the last bulletin we found out that the totality of the wisdom of God (Greek: Sophia) has been given to everyone of us when we received the Lord Jesus as Lord of our lives. This is why the Bible says that Jesus Christ is made unto us wisdom. (1 Cor.1:30)
In the last Sunday Service we studied further terminology that shows us how to apply this wisdom in our lives. How you apply yourself to wisdom determines how far you’ll go in life. Someone said:
“THE GREATNESS OF A MAN IS DETERMINED BY THE FUNCTION OF WISDOM IN HIS LIFE.”
To help us apply wisdom in our lives let’s look at different wisdom terminology.
One application of the wisdom of God is defined in the Greek word Sonesis. Sonesis is critical wisdom. (Critical: meaning involving the analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to exercise careful judgment). When someone doesn’t have Sonesis, they make wrong decisions and regret later. Sonesis makes you intelligent. It is what you require in your business, job or career. Sonesis will make you an exceptional employee.
How do you develop Sonesis or critical wisdom ? You develop it by developing your spirit. The real you, or the inner man. The more you study the Word of God – prayerfully and reverently, the more it opens up your spirit where wisdom is hidden for you. Opening your spirit is vital. It’s like opening the bank where the gold is stored.
There is divine power in the Word of God that causes our mental capacity to increase. When the Holy Spirit is working in your mind, you are able to interpret and analyze situations. You have quickness of perception. You develop extraordinary sagacity.
SAGACITY: Quickness of intellectual perception; keenness of discernment or penetration with soundness of judgment or shrewdness.
Your mental abilities are awesomely increased through the power of the Word of God. The Word of God functions by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does these things in your mind. When you invite the Holy Spirit as you meditate on the Word of God, He breeds on you and anoints your mind to know what to do.
I’ll tell you more in the next bulletin. Till then, have a great week!
