PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Where should we worship?
Luke 19:40
And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Dearly Beloved,
Am so excited about this great subject of worship. If there is a word that has been so abused, misused, and misunderstood is the word worship. Many churches and people use the phrase “come to our worship service” but when you get there, there is absolutely no worship. Any more than the Pope is Protestant. To them, worship is, sing, dance, and be preached at. No consecration of any kind that goes on. This ought not to be. Worship is, to have intense love and admiration for the object of your worship. Let’s see how the ultimate worship is, and how it looks like, from Jesus’ stand point.
John 4:22-24
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Let’s consider several key points that may give us some insights in this matter.
- The kind of a worshipper the Father is interested in.
- The Father is a Spirit.
- The worshipper must worship in spirit and in truth.
From what Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, worship has nothing to do with the place or location. But must be in a certain condition and attitude. Must worship in spirit (not soul, and not the body) and in truth. One must be honest to self, be truthful and not do it as a ritual, custom, or heritage. It must come from deep down the spirit of man. The word spirit (lower case s refers to the spirit of man while uppercase S refers to the Spirit of God).
The only way to worship God, is to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Why in the “spirit?” Because that’s the only way we can communicate with God, for He is a Spirit. So the spirit of man communicates with the Spirit of God and vice versa. A canal or a fleshly man cannot communicate with God. The word of God is spiritually oriented and therefore it’s designed for the spiritual. Prayer, praise and worship must be in the spirit or else it’s just a religious sarakasi. The above scripture tells us, the Father is seeking for a kind of people who worship in SPIRIT, and in TRUTH. He is not interested with pretense, He is interested in the the true worshippers. Those who empty themselves before Him in tremendous adoration and hunger for His manifested presence, and overwhelmed in awe of His excellence and majesty.
