THE HARVEST
ONE A WEEK pt 3
Theme scripture
Luke 15:5 -10
And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and ninein the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
Dear friends and family.
We continue building the foundation of our “one a week” series. We purpose to get into a serious harvest cause we have been told to “lift our eyes and see That the harvest is ready.” If we don’t harvest, it’s not because there is no harvest but because we are blind, and we cannot see, or we are in rebellion. That’s a tragedy.
From our theme scripture, why did Jesus give such an affectionate parable? Sounds like He is more interested in the lost ONE, than he is in the ninety nine, and He is. Why?
Because that “ONE” is LOST. It is really in danger. It has no protection and no direction. It is vulnerable to danger and can get hurt or even killed.
No one knows where it is, and neither does it know where it is and cannot
go back home. This is a win win situation. The “lost sheep is happy that it’s been found, and the owner is even happier. He throws a party because of the found sheep.
This parable is not really about sheep. It’s a parable depicting affection and love. A parable is an earthily truth with a Spiritual significance. St. Luke 19:10 unfolds the truth and significance of the parable of the “lost sheep, and lost coin”.Luke 19:10
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
In this scripture we are told, Jesus left heaven, left all the comfort and the pleasure of His nearness to the Father “to seek the lost”. Now that sounds familiar doesn’t it? At one time we were the lost “sheep”. When we were found, there was a tremendous celebration because you and l were found.
The “lost” are so important to God that He lives everything else in order to find them. Look how important the prodigal son was to the father.
Luke 15:22-24
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
Sounds like there was a big party to me. Reason?, a lost son has been found. This my brethren is the heart of God. To bring back home the lost sheep. God considers the lost soul worth the death of His son. It’s only logical for us as the children of God, to be involved with what God cares for, SOULS.
It’s wrong when we know what to do and the importance of it, and we don’t do it. We need to be about our Father’s business. We need to do whatever it takes to get more and more souls to Lord. This, gives him great joy and pleasure.
