Dearly beloved brethren,
Praise the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, our High Priest and soon coming King! I’m sure by now you have made up your mind to be a committed tither and to do it consistently as your regular worship to God our Source, through the Lord Jesus our High Priest and to do it right as your point of contact or step of faith to receiving and walking in the Blessing of Abraham.
Tithing is the first step towards being a good steward of the Lord’s resources. It is a test of our faithfulness to Him and so we cannot afford to fail it. There’re so many reasons why we tithe. I gave you a few of the benefits last week. Let’s look at some more:
Someone has said that the tithe qualifies you for maximum increase. I believe Scripture also shows us that the tithe brings you to the place of walking in the overflow or with more than enough so you can be generous to others.
Luke 16:10-12 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own? NKJV
Jesus did not ignore the money issue. He is telling us that we need to sort out the least of our responsibility: handling our money right because it lays the foundation of our spiritual life. The first step to handling money faithfully is tithing.
At the end of the Old Testament, God speaks about the tithe through His last Old Testament prophet Malachi. He reveals two huge promises that are attached to the spiritual act of tithing:
Mal 3:6,10-11 “For I am the LORD, I do not change…
-
10-12 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts. NKJV
God says when we tithe, it unlocks something in the spiritual realm that enables God to start taking action on our behalf. He opens up the windows of heaven and begins to pour out additional blessing into our lives; which we receive through tithing. Someone said this means ”new windows of opportunity.” This is huge. God is blessing us all the time. He even blesses the ungodly in spite of themselves. (Matt. 5:45). But when we tithe, we allow God to bring increase to our finances in pre-planned ways we would never expect.
At the same time, increasing our finances would do us no good if all the increase was being stolen or destroyed. Fortunately when we tithe, it also unlocks something else in the spiritual realm. The destroyer is blocked from our finances and every hindrance removed. Imagine the peace it brings into your life to not only keep increasing without the enemy stealing from you but also to be entrusted with greater spiritual riches than money?
How beneficial is that! I don’t know about you but I chose a long time ago to be a faithful tither that can be entrusted with greater, true or spiritual riches.
