Beloved,
I trust that you are doing well and abiding in the grace of God. As we come to the end of our series in “the blessing”, I want to address the subject of prosperity briefly.
When God said to Abram “I will bless thee”, it was like an open check. We have been identifying specific blessings in the “I will bless thee” with the intent of exposing them to you, so that you know what things are yours, and your rights to those things. I would like you to know also that these blessings are without limit. They extend from spiritual to material blessings. We have seen that it’s God’s will to heal all those who are, or would be sick. Now let us see His will regarding prosperity.
Genesis 13:2
“And Abram was VERY rich”. I like the expression “very” because it implies having more than “just rich”. Abram was not just rich, he was very rich. The emphasis is significant in that it describes His riches to be over and above. This sounds like “……my cup runneth over”. Poverty falls far from God. I have heard people say, “poverty is synonymous to godliness”, this is a lie from the pit of hell. The author of “the gospel” (Good news) would declare the opposite of poverty to be true. So, how rich was Abraham?
Verse 6.
“And the land could not sustain them while dwelling together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to remain together.”
The word them refers to him, (Abraham) and his nephew Lot. Just two people and the land would not accommodate them?…that’s riches. The Bible does not say anywhere that Lot was blessed, but he was. Whatever he had was because of Abraham. Simply because of being with Abraham (The blessed). Moreover, he was not even supposed to be with Abraham, nevertheless he was and Just because of hanging around Abraham, he got blessed with much wealth. If the blessings of Abraham could flow on to Lot, they sure can flow on to you. God wants you to prosper. This, is His will for you.
The blessings of Abraham flowed on to his son Isaac who grew very great.
Genesis 26:12-14
And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
Isaac became very great……..the Philistines envied him…..in fact they had to ask him to leave their country because of his wealth. Not bad eh?
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.
Psalms 35:27Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
God wants you to prosper in all you do…..lacking nothing. He wants all your needs met. Hallelujah. Check out your next SPREADING THE LIGHT BULLETIN.
Remain blessed.
