Theme scripture:

Ephesians 2

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,

which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Dear Saints,

Last week we started the series “created for good works” which gives us some insights as to exactly what we are all about. For one we are God’s workmanship created in Christ unto good works. The American Standard Version states: ASV. Eph. 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.

We are created for good works. I like this translation because it is very clear why we are created. Notice, created in Christ Jesus FOR…..In order to understand the good works, we must consider at our greatest role model, Jesus Christ. First we need to know His primary purpose for coming. This consequently reveals The Father’s (God’s) good works. Jesus was the Father’s “good works”.

He was The Father’s good works because, think about it, we did not deserve or qualify for the great gift of God all because of His goodness. This goodness causes Him to do the “good works”; of sending Jesus to save us, so that we don’t have to all go to hell. This is the greatest miracle in all humanity. This miracle is greater than healing any incurable disease, opening blind eyes, causing limbs to grow or anything you may deem to be supernatural. All these things are good, but they are minor works. The major works are the reason for the emergence of the Son of God. God did not send Jesus because of any of the above miracles. He (God) sent Jesus for souls. From this standpoint, we can get an idea of the works of God in the book of Saint John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

To this question Jesus responded, “………..This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent”. Believe on Him…….believe what?

Believe that He is whom He says He is. The result of your belief is to obey what He commands. When you do what He commands, you are working the works of God because you are created in Christ for good works.

Many people say they” believe” Him, or think they do, but they blatantly refuse to do what He commands. They really don’t believe Him and so they do not do the works of God….. they do their own works. The only GOOD works a born again Christian can do is GOD works.
