WHAT A FAMILY IS?
Genesis 2:23-24
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 3:14-15
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Dear Saints,
Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus. Over the past few weeks, we have been talking about love. We have not even scratched the surface of the depth, the length, the width, and the height of the subject. So in this case, we just quit until some other time. I want us to start another series on the subject of family. This subject is so important, yet taken so lightly. So let’s dig in.
Two weeks ago I posted a comment on the issue of family on face book, and people responded as if this was a new thing.
As a result l find it necessary to address the subject until the Holy Spirit directs us differently. We will look at the family unit from the nucleus family stand point to the more complex universal family, the family of God.
By definition, the word family means:
- A group of people related to one another by blood or marriage.
- A person or people related to one and so to be treated with special loyalty or intimacy.
Family is an institution founded by God Himself. In our theme scripture from the Old Testament, we see Adam’s expression of intimacy with his new companion. This was indeed the foundation of family, for they were commanded to “fill the earth”. God’s initial plan was to have one large group of people united, and related in such a way that nothing could separate them from each other. Distance cannot break the family ties. In our scripture from the book of Ephesians we see that we are family here on earth and in heaven. Meaning we are still family with those who have gone on to heaven before us. We are out of space. Watch out next week in your SPREADING THE LIGHT BULLETIN. Stay blessed.
BELONGING:
IT’S IMPORTANT TO BELONG SOMEWHERE. WORSHIP TEAM, GREETERS, USHERS, HOUSE OF JOY (CELL GROUP) ETC.
IF YOU DO NOT BELONG, MAKE SURE YOU DO. YOU ARE SPECIAL AND LOVED.
