FAMILY
The loyalty and intimacy
Ephesians 3:14-15
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Dear Saints,
Greetings to you all. I pray that you are well and prospering in all you do. I also pray that the Lord may open the eyes of your understanding as we dissect the subject of the family unit. Last week we looked at two definitions (among others) of the word family. The second (see last week bulletin for the first definition.) one defined that family as:
A person or people related to one and so to be treated with special loyalty or intimacy.
I like this definition because I see God in it. Notice, when people are related to one, they are family. They have in general, a common goal and purpose. They are loyal (cannot betray, talk evil of, hate, backbite …) to one another. In this unit, an enemy of one family member is an enemy of all. As a family we are committed to one another. We are loyal (or should be) and intimate to each other. Our Father (God) is loyal and intimate to us. He can never betray us. Think of His amazing grace upon us, think of His love, think of His loving kindness. He cannot, and never will forsake us. He treats us intimately as a bridegroom to his bride.
John 3:29
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
I can see a great anticipation of intimacy as the groom’s joy is fulfilled.
Paul says, our “WHOLE family in heaven and in earth is named” after our Lord Jesus. We have a family in heaven……, they care for us, they are loyal to us, and they are connected to us intimately. As a family, we are one, belonging to one. We have another family here on earth, caring for each other, loyal, loving intimate…., that’s us. No member of a family should ever talk bad of another family member. We must stay loyal.
