Last week we saw that some ways to let your light shine is to be fervent in Spirit in other words, filled with the Spirit serving the Lord and walking in love. Look at
Romans 12:11 “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”
Amplified Bible: Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord. AMP.
Many Christians live ordinary lives because they don’t live their lives full of the Spirit. God’s will is that we live a life of constant victory, continually filled with the Spirit. As a result we see things God’s way continually and not in the ordinary plane of life. Our experience should be a manifestation of God’s Word.
Eph. 5:18-19 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. KJV
God’s Word including the above is for doing. This means be being filled or be continually filled with the Spirit. It also means to be full of the Spirit till it controls you. When you’re filled with the Spirit, you’re enabled supernaturally. You’ll see, hear and perceive things at a higher plane of life.
1 Cor. 2:14-15 says: 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. NKJV
This means we need to live our lives beyond the natural realm. You’re not the natural man. The Spiritual IN YOU controls the natural. You either control the natural or it controls you. But you can come to the level where you don’t have any cares and anxieties about your life. Instead you have the “I can do all things” attitude. (Phil. 4:13) You don’t function like the ordinary man when you’re full of the Spirit. You talk differently. You don’t put yourself down. You don’t allow yourself to get troubled. You’re optimistic and you have no down or blue days. You rule always. You keep the devil under your feet.
Whatever you do, choose to do it through the power of the Holy Spirit. Be empowered by and controlled by the Spirit continually. Jesus (our example) did everything He did on earth through the Holy Ghost. He kept saying that it is the “Father in Him” that did the works. (John 14:10-11) Put the ability of the Greater One in you to work. (1Peter 4:11, Romans 12:6-8, 1 Cor. 12:11.)
Brethren, stay full of the Spirit. Sing Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing in the Spirit in other tongues. Sing with your understanding. Meditate on the Word of God. Make confessions to Him. Laugh often. Be filled with the Spirit!
