GAINING MOMENTUM TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS

GAINING MOMENTUM TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS

Brethren,

As many of you know, people do not succeed or accidentally achieve their goals. John Maxwell says: “Nobody stumbles upon success and answers…’wait, how did I get here?’”

You tend to get in life exactly what you focus on. In the Bible, God kept asking His prophets to Israel what they’d “see.”

Amos 7:7-8  Thus He showed me: Behold, the Lord stood on a wall made with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand. 8 And the LORD said to me, “Amos, what do you see ?”  And I said, “A plumb line.” NKJV

Zech. 4:2  Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. 2 And he said to me, What do you see ?”

Jer. 1:11  Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see ?”

God needed someone on the earth to see what He saw, then speak it.  Similarly, for you to achieve anything in life, you’ve got to see it first.  What are you looking at?  Buzzards fly around looking for dead stuff.  Humming birds fly around looking for sweet stuff like nectar.  They both get what they’re looking for.

You too will get in life exactly what you focus on.  What are you looking at in life? Are you stuck in a plateau such that you haven’t moved forward for years?  Why not focus on gaining momentum to achieve your dreams? ‘

When you get focused on a dream, goal and vision God has put in your heart, and you start gaining momentum, there’s no force from hell that can stop you from doing what God has put you on this earth to do.  But you have to gain momentum.

Think of the word momentum.  Momentum is described as a force that moves stronger and faster all the time.  You can compare it to an airplane ride.  I’ve been flying on airplanes since 1981 and in the last 19 years every single year I’ve flown both international and local.  My favorite part of the flight is the take off.  You start slow on the ground and gain momentum.  There’s no turning back when you take off.  Once that plane gets off the ground and is in the skies, it’s very hard to stop.  You might as well see your destination.’

But you don’t want to gain momentum going the wrong direction. Going the direction of fear, the direction of un-forgiveness, the direction of jealousy, the direction of pride or the direction of offense.  Those directions will lead you to stagnate in life.  You want momentum working for you so you can make some progress toward your goals.

Let me ask you something.  How did someone like Dr. Seuss go from 27 publishers rejecting him, telling him his manuscript is not worth anything and that he should forget and give up on his dream; to selling over 600 million copies of children’s books in 20 languages around the world, one of the greatest children’s authors of all time?  How did he go from the rejection to being one of the greatest?  He changed the momentum in the right direction.

The same can happen for you.  When you get serious about the future and the dreams and the goals that God put in your heart.

To get momentum in your life, see where you’re going, be fixed on your vision and cheer-lead yourself (encourage yourself) by constantly speaking the end result you desire.  We’ll delve deeper into this next week.
