Matthew 7:11
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Dear Saints,
I thank God for each of you because of your love walk In Christ Jesus. This is what church is all about, walking in love. Interestingly, love gives. And you have been doing just that. But it is not surprising because thats who you are, like your God. He is a lover and a giver. This article is a follow-up to our April 7 bulletin.
The cross proves how much God loves you. He that spared not His Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not……freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32). Well, “all things” means all things as promised in God’s word. Its God’s will to give you all things. So refuse to settle for less. You must however be single-minded in your approach or it wont work.
James 1:6-8 says:
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
This is the key that locks all spiritual doors of receiving good things from God. The Bible calls it, doubt and unbelief….you can never get anything from God with this kind of attitude. We must not waver, we have been told how someone behaves when they waver. They are like the wave of the sea…driven with the wind. He/she should not even “THINK” they can receive anything from the Lord. The above scripture clears the air (so to say) as to what the wavering man is; double minded. The tragedy is, he is unstable in, not some of his ways, but in ALL his ways.
What hinders our theme scripture above to work for us is what is described in James 1:6-8.The explicit comparison in Matthew 7:11 leaves no doubt that God loves to give us good things. Jesus is talking to the religious Jews and says: if your child asks for bread, will you give him a stone….if he asks for fish, will you give him a serpent? The answer to these questions are an astounding NO. Then He continues: “If you then being evil know how to give good gifts to your children,”…..how much more….? The answer here is anyone’s guess….TOO MUCH MORE. But we must not be double minded about it.
The Psalmist said, “ One thing l have desired of the Lord that will l seek after…….” Here is a perfect attitude of single mindedness, ONE thing l have desired….we will continue in this thought next week in your SPREADING THE LIGHT BULLETIN. You will never miss out on God’s “good things.” God is a giver…..You can believe God for good things.
