DOES GOD WANT YOU HEALED?
Luke 5:12
And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
Dear child of God,
We continue this week with the subject of healing. Last week we saw that it’s God’s will
to heal. I have heard ministers pray, “Lord, if it be your will heal so and so.” This is a wrong
prayer because it shows lack of the knowledge of His will, yet we can see healing throughout the word of God.
In our theme scripture above, we a see a guy who did not know the will of God concerning healing. He said, “If it be your will” you can make me clean (paraphrased). The next verse
shows “His will”. Jesus said “I will”. Notice that Jesus did not make excuses why the guy could not be healed. It is His will to heal all. Remember Jesus did only what He saw the Father doing.
John 5:19Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Before Jesus laid hands on the guy, He saw the Father healing Him.
The sickness on this guy had nothing to do with God. Simply said, God had no
part in it. He wasn’t sick because he had sinned, or that God was teaching him something. The devil had afflicted him. All sickness is from the devil.
An interesting story is found in
Luke 13:11
And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
Please note, “A spirit of infirmity”. So her sickness that bound her down was a “spirit” and not a good one for that matter, the devil had bound her down. Jesus healed her against all odds because it was a Sabbath. It was so important for Him to heal her that He did not seem to care what the religious Jews would say. He in fact rebuked them. Sickness is not your portion.
