Dear brethren,
So, it is the beginning of a new year, literally! The calendar has changed; but what else changes? If we expect to see any changes, we’re going to have to make some quality decisions. A quality decision is one in which there is no turning back.
Some people expect things to change apart from them changing. It doesn’t work like that. God gave you a will and He respects it. The fact is, if you keep doing the same things, you will end up with the same results. So, for things to change, you have to make some decisions. Someone said:
“Decisions determine direction and
Direction determines destiny.”
When you make a decision, it sets you on a course. Whether you make the right decision or the wrong decision determines the outcome of your life. You and I are constantly making decisions and those decisions have determined where we are right now.
Just think about this. What if you hadn’t made the decision to receive Jesus as Lord of your life? What if you hadn’t made the decision to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Where would you be? How would you life be today?
The Word of God teaches us how to make the right decisions. When we choose to follow God’s Word, we make the right decisions. Then we end up at the right destination. To make the right decisions, two things are vital to understand.
- FAITH
One of the biggest factors in you being led is faith and we know that faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Did God tell you that He’s going to lead you? Do I have His Word for guidance on which to base my faith? We need to understand that the Lord has promised to guide us.
Some people keep saying things like: “I don’t know what to do. I’m so confused. I just can’t seem to make the right decisions. I just don’t seem to hear God. You never know what God’s going to do. I don’t know what to expect.”
The fact is talking like that is undermining your faith in the Word of God. What did the Word say?
Thank God the Word says things like: “My sheep know my voice. (John 10:27.)” “We have an unction from the holy One and we know all things. (1 John 2:20)” You need to talk faith even when your head is confused and you don’t know what to do.
Has the Lord promised to guide you?
Look at these verses:
Ps 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
Can you count on that? Do you expect the Lord to instruct you in the decisions you should make?
Ps 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. NKJV
Do you believe the Lord can order your steps? Then your faith should be talking like this: The Lord is leading me. He’s directing my path. My steps are ordered of the Lord.
Here are some more Scriptures to meditate on and build your faith for guidance and direction:
Ps 48:14, Ps 73:24, Is 48:17, Is 58:11. I’ll give you another key next week.
As you begin this year, determine not to make frivolous decisions. Determine to be led by Him He’ll lead you to flourish in this New Year! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
