HEAVEN AND HELL
Is hell created for man?
Dear family and friends,
In our last bulletin we talked about the reality of heaven and that heaven is a real place.
In this bulletin we will attempt to answer the question, is hell a real place?
Some people argue that there is no hell, that hell is right here on earth.
This is not true at all. Hell is a real geographical place. Its created for those who reject Jesus Christ and His offering for mankind. Man, by his disobedience chooses to go to hell. God does not decide that for man.
There are terms used to describe the place. These terms are the likes of, the Hebrew word
Sheol; the Greek word Hades……refer to the same place. Although some people teach that these terms refer to “death or grave”. This is in-correct. These words are used inter-changeably for
hell. Hades-Sheol is spoken of as being down under the earth, contrasted with the height of heaven. Matthew 11:23
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
This is definitely a real place just as heaven is. Interestingly, it also has a gate as mentioned by
Jesus in Matthew 16:18. Hell is a real place for departed spirits who remain in full consciousness.
Luke 16:19-31. In Acts 2:27, 31 the soul of Christ is spoken of as going to Hades-Sheol.
This passage is quoted from the messianic Psalm 16:10.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Jonah cried out of hell. Jonah 2:2
2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Hell is a real place designated for those who deliberately refuse to accept the paid price of redemption, in Jesus Christ. NEXT WEEK ON SPREADING THE LIGHT BULLETIN…..
