LOVE AS I HAVE.

LOVE

LOVE AS I HAVE.

John 13

34A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

1 Samuel 18:3-4

Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

Dear Saints,

From our theme scriptures above, it is evident that God wants us to do what He does. Child of God, we have no excuse but to walk in love as God has commanded us. Let us analyze this scripture.

John 13:34

…..” A new commandment I give unto you that you love one another AS I HAVE loved you.

How did He love you? He gave up His place of royalty, He gave up His comfort with the Father, He gave up His glory, and He gave up whom He really was….. He gave up His life. He willed to die so you don’t have to.

The Lord is saying, this is a new commandment, LOVE one another…..this ONE covers all. The interesting thing in this commandment is, Jesus told us to “love AS He loved……” think about giving up all the above because He loves you. He became who we were so we can become who He was. You remember when Jonathan exchanged his garments, belt, girdle and all…..? This is exactly what Jesus did for us. We exchanged righteousness for sin….isn’t that amazing?

Our Lord wants us to do the same to, “one another”.

You and l may not have to die as He did, but if we have to love one another AS He loved us, then we may have to die for one another if the need be. This is His expectation, LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE…….we must be doers of the word.

James 1

22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. If you don’t do the word, you are just a hearer. The word does not affect you…..here is the worst part, you are deceiving yourself.

One can choose to obey or not to, it is a choice. David did not have to look for King Saul’s family to bless them. He made a choice to stay faithful to the covenant. Let’s purpose to walk in love just as we are told. REMEMBER, IT’S IMPORTANT TO BELONG SOMEWHERE. WORSHIP TEAM, GREETERS, USHERS, HOUSE OF JOY (CELL GROUP) ETC.

IF YOU DO NOT BELONG, MAKE SURE YOU DO. YOU ARE SPECIAL AND LOVED.
