HOW TO MAKE WISE DECISIONS
Dearest brethren,
We have been looking at the keys to making wise decisions beginning with the key of faith and the key of prayer. Both of these keys function on the basis of the Word of God.
Actually, the Word of God is the major underlying factor to being led of the Lord to make wise decisions. We must make the Word the final authority in our lives. The Lord will never lead you contrary to His Word.
Next, we must have a readiness to adopt our plans to God’s plans. God never did anything without a plan. He has a plan for everything that concerns you. He has a plan for your spiritual growth. He has a plan for your good health and your prosperity. He has a plan for your family’s well being. He even has a plan for your social life. He has a plan for your total satisfaction.
For every task you should undertake God has a success plan. Every task needs a plan and God’s plan is the most successful. You will recall this commonly quoted Scripture:
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. NKJV
Thoughts, intentions and plans start with a thought. God’s thoughts towards you are His plans for you and they are all very good.
Brethren, you cannot afford to be making failed plans. You’re delivered from failure and unsuccessful plans. God is committed to your success. He’ll never leave you until He fulfills His purpose in and for you.
However, for you to experience success in your plans, you must adopt your plans to His plans. You must let His thoughts be your thoughts. Unfortunately, this is not always the case with most people.
God told Israel at one point:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isa 55:8-9 NKJV
No matter what you think about an issue, God has higher thoughts about it. How many times do we make plans and then ask God to bless them? Why don’t we ask Him for His plan concerning each issue and then it will already be a blessed plan? Since we’ve all missed it in this, our best option now is to commit to continually adjust our plans to His plan.
In order for it to be easy for God to lead you, you must guard the condition of your heart. For one, you must have a clear heart. You must unclutter your heart from too many voices and adjust it to the voice of God. The Bible tells us that there are many voices out there. 1 Cor. 14:10 says: There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. KJV
The question is, how cluttered is your heart? Are you focused on hearing God or are you too busy listening to so many voices?
Another key to being led of God is having a humble heart.
Ps 25:9 says: “The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way.” NKJV
For you to ascertain God’s will for you, you must lay your own will on the altar. God says He’ll instruct you and teach you, He will guide you; but He warns you not to be like the horse or the mule – which have to be forced to follow. (Ps. 32:8-9)
Brethren, God has a fail proof plan for your life. Come to Him with a humble, clear heart of faith, ask Him to guide you and then listen to Him. Adjust your plans to His plans, change your mind (repent) and yield to His plan. The humble He teaches His way!
