Dear Brothers and sisters,
Let’s again look at Romans 8:14.16 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” NKJV
Last week we stressed the fact that God leads us through our heart and gave some conditions of the heart that make it conducive to our hearing God. Today I’ll show you some practical things that make it easier for you to be led by the Spirit of God.
Isa 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believepth shall not make haste. KJV
The Bible shows us that when believing God you shall not be in a hurry. Proverbs 19:2 shows us that to hasten or be in a hurry is a cause for many to sin or miss the mark. Don’t be hasty in making a decision. If you need to hear from the Lord about something, you need to wait on Him. People miss it by moving too fast. The enemy works through pressure. Bro. Hagin used to say that He would rather be behind in following the Lord than be far ahead of Him. If something is of the Lord today, it will be of the Lord tomorrow. Our God is amazingly patient. Some of the things He’s doing today, He spoke of them hundreds of years ago.
Some people make a good confession and if it doesn’t come to pass in one week, or within their expected time, they give up. The Bible says that it is through faith and patience that we inherit the promises and that we are to imitate those who did it that way. Someone like Abraham that we should emulate waited 25 years for the promised son. Brethren, wait patiently on the Lord. Take time to get quiet – get your head so quiet that you can monitor what’s going on in your heart. This is what some people do not like to do. They would rather go to someone else to tell them what to do or form a committee to garner various opinions. While that has its place, that in the midst of counselors there’s safely, why not hear from God (the bet Counselor) first before you confer with flesh and blood?
One of the first steps to making decisions is to determine you’re going to make your own decision and not let other people make your decisions for you. Make up your mind you’re going to hear from the Lord for yourself and He’ll help you and guide your steps. Sometimes when I’m confronted with varying issues, I usually say, “I am mightily led of the Spirit of God and I will know what to do.”
Another key to making quality decisions is “don’t just walk by sight or reason.” Some people make decisions based on risk factors they’re trying to avoid, some make decisions based on reasoning. I don’t care how many facts you accumulate – you don’t have all the facts about the future. God knows the future but He expects you to live by faith trusting Him to lead you. Brethren you can make your decisions based on revelation
There are people who check the horoscope. Others go to mediums such as palm readers. The Bible forbids us to do such things! The Bible asks, “Why should the living seek the dead?”
Isa. 8:19 And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? NKJV Brethren, don’t mess with the dark world opening up your soul to confusion. Those things are controlled from the pits of hell.
