PRAISE AND WORSHIP
There is Victory in Praise.
Luke 19:40
And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Dearly Beloved,
I thank God for each one of you in my prayers that our God may reveal to all of us the deeper mysteries that are in His praise and worship. Last week we saw that praise is the act of adoration that expresses a warm approval or admiration of the object of worship. Thus, all praise is directed to Him. Praise is not about YOU in what you want to do or will do, but what He has done, what makes Him great in your sight. Talking of His greatness.
Praise should continually be in our mouths as we verbalize the goodness of our God in spite of whatever is going on in our lives. Life experiences does not change or affect God’s character. He is good all the time. Praise is powerful. Let us consider the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles, three Kings had gathered together against the King of Judah. The King got so scared but turned to the God of Israel who in His kindness and mercy told him (Jehoshaphat) what to do.
20:21-23
And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever.
And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. This is not how armies go to war. They don’t go with musical instruments and singing for the enemy…Judah got her victory through praise. Some of your victories will come through praise.
