 PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Why Praise and worship?

Luke 19:40

And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

Dearly Beloved,

I thank God for preserving, and sustaining us this far. I am so thrilled to share with you in the subject of praise and worship. It has been awesome. If you did not get a copy of your Spreading the Light Bulletin please get it, it will help you. Let us all learn to invest in our own personal spiritual growth. Anyway, let’s cover some basics. Just what is Praise and worship? To praise and worship God is to express our love and awe of who He is.  In

Isaiah 66:1 God says, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.”

He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it, which includes you and me.  How wonderful and amazing is that! Especially when this great God has accepted your praise and worship in His majesty. We will dissect these two powerful terms: worship and praise, or praise and worship…….

Worship, according to the dictionary means: to show profound religious devotion; b) to have intense love and admiration; the definition of praise is: to express admiration or approval for; b) to express thanks and worship to God.  In other words, praise and worship go hand in hand. Like we said earlier in these series, it has nothing to do with type of music or singing style although they are part of it. Praise and worship is a lifestyle. Praising and worshiping God is not about a ritual, or prayer repetition. True worship requires total commitment of our body, mind and spirit.  It’s about exalting, adoring and acknowledging our God. It has nothing to do with religion, but it has everything to do with having an intimate and profound relationship with God – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You can worship Him with dance, musical instruments, giving, receiving, and working. Whatever we ought to serve God and therefore, we do it whole-heartedly as a worship with the total consecration.

In worship, it is not the place but the heart. You don’t need to go up the mountain or some “holy place”. Jesus said, “……the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.”  He went on to say what the Father is interested in,

“……..But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:” (John 4:21, 23).

It should be clear by now that worship is the condition of the heart. “Worship Him in spirit and in truth.” Wow, this means that the opposite is also true, that it is possible to worship in the flesh and in deceit……definitely worshipping some other entity, but not the Father. We will continue in this thought next week in your SPREADING THE LIGHT BULLETIN….check it out. It will change your life.
