 PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Purpose to worship God.

John 4:22-24

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Dearly Beloved,

Thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus. We started the series on praise and worship several weeks ago and it has been phenomenal. We discovered that we need to live a life of praise, and worship. Praise has to do with what God has done, it’s vocal and public. Worship on the other hand is a heartfelt intimacy, the state of recognizing the awesomeness of the creator to whom you bow down in adoration.

The state of worship is the place of complete submission and surrender to God. In worship, you are consumed by His mighty presence to the extent that you are not aware of who else is doing what or who is watching….it doesn’t matter. When we come to church, we should be expectant, and prepared to have a very high level of spiritual experience. It is unfortunate that most people who go to church go without expecting anything.

And what do they get? Nothing. These are the people who when others are pressing in, basking in the presence of God, they are chewing gum and looking around everywhere and totally oblivious to whatever is going on. One has to purpose to worship, purpose, to be free, and purpose to receive something (whatever it is) from the Lord. Jesus said,

Matthew 9:29

Then touched he their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it unto you.”

The phrase, “be it done unto you” is very important in that when we come together we should, and must have, “what should be done”…unto us. What are you believing God for? This can easily make you worship Him, because of your desire to have your need met, but what trait of God makes Him so great to you? What would make you fall prostrate before Him in worship? Answering these questions will lead you to revere Him and you would not be looking everywhere while others are in God’s presence. Remember, it is not the place, nor the posture, but the attitude of total self-surrender and immersion into His presence by faith. Oh the greatness, the beauty and excellence of God is amazing. Purpose to block everything else and just worship….practice this at home and come to church ready to get into His presence. Get your SPREADING THE LIGHT BULLETIN next Sunday, you are blessed.
