A FATHER’S PRAYER
Judges 13:8
Then Manoah intreated the Lord, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
Dear Saints,
Greetings in Jesus’ Name. The desire of every normal parent is to direct his child or children.Toward the most lucrative career or business. However, the success of every child should be directed by the Lord through the prayer of his or her parents. Such is the case in our theme scripture where Manoah prayed: “TEACH US WHAT WE SHALL DO WITH THE CHILD.”
Our desire as parents should be, a cry out to God;Lord, give us a son/daughter who will be strong enough to know when he/she is weak, brave enough to face himself/herself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory. Give me children whose wishbone will not be where their backbone should be; a child who will know You….lead him, l pray, in the paths of righteousness, let them learn to stand up in the storm; let them learn compassion for those who fail. Give me children whose heart will be clean, whose goal will be high; children who will master themselves before they seek to master other men;
Children who will learn to laugh, and never forget how to weep; one who will reach into the future, and yet never forget the lessons of the past. And after all these things are his, add i pray a sense of humor, so that he may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously.Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.
Thus, Manoah prayed: ‘teach us what we shall do….’ we have never had child before, we dont know what to do….teach us Lord. That sounds like most of us parents who have never parented before, but desire God’s wisdom in taking care of the gift that He has given to us in our children.
