PROTECTION
Fear not, I am your shield
Genesis 15:1
After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

Dear Saints,
May the peace of God that passes all understanding be upon you. Today we begin a new series in the subject of protection. We need to get to a place in our lives that we truly believe THE WORD. Not to just have a mental assent, (knowing God is there, but……) but to be convinced that God is, and the Bible is His word written to you. That is, if God were here in person, What He would tell you is what is written in His Word. With this truth in mind, let us be fully convinced that God is directly talking to us through His Word. In our theme scripture God was talking to Abram (later called Abraham) telling him not to fear and gave him the reason “I am your shield and thy exceeding great reward”. This statement literally covered every aspect of Abram’s life. His protection, his provision, and his health. In a sense, all his livelihood was covered right here. Someone may say, well, that’s good but that was for Abraham and not me, after all, Abraham was much better than me. NO, THATS NOT TRUE.
Abraham was not better than you. He was not a Christian, he was not even “a child of God” but you are. John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Abraham did not receive Jesus (He was not revealed then). But because he BELIEVED, he was made righteous. We (in the NT) are made righteous because we BELIEVED AND RECEIVED. How does God’s blessing to Abraham apply to us? By principle. God’s favor was upon him. He did not do anything to earn that favor, neither do we. When Abram heard, “FEAR NOT, (put you name here) I AM YOUR SHIELD”, He believed and it was counted to him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:6, And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
In order to get what Abraham got, you have to do what Abraham did, he BELIEVED, that God is his shield. This gave him the reason NOT TO FEAR. God is saying to you today, DO NOT FEAR, I AM YOUR SHIELD…. whatever is thrown at you has to hit me first (the shield) before it hits you. Child of God, everything that was to be thrown at you, was thrown. It all hit your shield JESUS. FEAR NOT, what is, what was, or what is to come. God is your shield.
