SPIRIT FILLED.
Ephesians 5:18
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Dear Saints,
We hope you had a lovely week. We continue from where we left last week on the subject of the Spirit, dubbed Spirit – Filled living. Spirit filled living does not by any means mean being weird, or living out there and floating in the air out of touch with rest of the world. No, it means staying connected and fully aware of the presence of God and communicating with Him.
We discussed briefly the work of the Spirit which is four fold:
- He is the Spirit of Truth
- He never speaks of Himself
- He speaks only what He hears from the Father
- He shows us things to come.
The Holy Spirit is so important that without Him we fall short of all the above things that He is known to be and does. Any truth that is communicated is from the Holy Spirit because He is the Spirit of Truth. He is God’s spokesman so to say. So, we can never hear God if it were not for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit communicates only what He hears from the Father. I especially like the fact that He shows us things to come. This means, before it happens He has showed it to us. This is amazing because nothing will catch you by surprise. Somehow, The Spirit will show you before it happens. He orders and directs your footsteps so you don’t stumble. In difficult situations when you don’t know what to say, he will give you the right words at the right time.
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The other important character of the Holy Spirit is to reproduce His nature in you. This is referred to as the “fruit of the Spirit”, (Galatians 5:22) not the efforts of your flesh. Fruit doesn’t struggle to grow; it simply draws life from the tree to which it is connected and thrives. This is true of us, We simply draw from our connection with the Holy Spirit. Glory to God.
