Dr. Eunice Mwangi

Dearest brethren,

Before I tell you how to strengthen or develop your spirit, I would like to remind you that you are a spirit, you have a soul (your mind, will and emotions) and you live in a physical body with five physical senses.  It is important to constantly remind yourself that you are a spirit being.

The Bible exhorts us strongly to guard our heart or spirit because out of it flow or springs out the issues of life.  Brother Hagin would advise to stand infront of your mirror and say:  “I am a spirit, I have a soul and I live in a physical body.”  This helps you remain conscious of your inner man.

Prov. 4:20-23 Amplified Bible:  20 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings.   21 Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart.   22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.   23 Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.  AMP

There are so many advantages to having a strong spirit.  For one, a strong spirit will get you through physical attacks or health problems.  Not only that but a strong spirit will get you through financial difficulties, marital or other relationship difficulties.  It will get you through problems on the job or career, ministry or problems with your kids.  More importantly a strong spirit will help you overcome temptations.

Prov. 18:14  Amplified Bible tells us:“The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?”  AMP

Our inner man is supposed to be renewed day by day.

2 Cor.4:16  Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear ). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.  AMP

For your inner man to be renewed and strong, it has to be fed or nourished, it has to be exercised, it has to rest and it’s enemies such as fear, worry, strife and anything contrary to the love of God (drains) have to be eliminated.  When you have a weak spirit, you’re easily depressed, discouraged, and you can easily despair.  When you see a person in despair or in spiritual burnout, they have a weak malnourished spirit.

Brethren, feeding your inner man is paramount to any success you’re going to have.  Jesus said that man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.  Matt. 4:4.

1 Tim 4:6-7  says:  “If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. 7 But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.” NKJV

Our spirit beings are nourished up with Words of faith and of good doctrine.    There are people who feed their cat, their dog, their plants but they forget their spirits.  The Word is to your spirit the way meat, ugali, sukumaetc is to your body.   Some people feed their spirit one cold snack per week and wonder why they’re so weak.

Brethren, take time to feed your spirit.  Wake up and read the Word, meditate on it, and make your life a success.
