Lessons From The Book Of Daniel
Dan 11:32-33 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. 33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many…KJV
Matt 24:15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand) NKJV
The Lord Jesus said to understand what is spoken of in the book of Daniel.
So I’ll give you a short overview of the book of Daniel:
It has12 Chapters: first 6 chapters are largely stories with the exception of chapter 2, which is a prophecy and the last 6 chapters are prophecies.
So it is divided into two different parts:
- Prophecies
- Stories
- Stories tell us how things happened in the days of Daniel
- Prophecies tell us when things took place and will take place until the of the tribulation period at the end of this age.
The prophecies of Daniel do not tell us when our Lord is going to return.
(All kinds of conspiracies exist. Truth is: Jesus did not tell us we cannot know the season of His return: He gave us the signs especially the sign of the nation of Israel. He showed us the generation that sees Israel come back to being a nation shall not pass away till the events of the last days including the great tribulation are fulfilled.)
(Because of that, many prominent Bible scholars think we have 21 years left: 1948-2048 (a generation is 100 years) count back 7 years of the tribulation so the catching away of the church could happen anytime between now and the end of 2041 depending on when the Lord deems the harvest as being reaped. No one knows the exact day!)
But the prophecies of Daniel do give us a broad spectrum of the rise and fall of nations from the days of Daniel to the end of the great tribulation.
You can actually read the names of the actual nations or rather super powers that God showed Daniel would rise and fall.
(It is not unusual for the Bible to be predictive of events and even names of individuals…Example: The Bible named Cyrus by name 150 years before he was born, as the God ordained ruler who would attack Babylon, overthrow it and let the Jews go free.)
PURPOSE OF BIBLE PROPHECY?
(Eschatology)
2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. NKJV
God outlines great events in history so His people can be prepared.
Jesus Himself gives us the reason for Bible prophecy:
John 14:29 “And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.” NKJV
- When you look and see that a prediction has come to pass, you may believe. An understanding of prophecy builds your faith.
- It builds confidence in the God of the Bible.
Most people in the world realize the world right now is at the breaking point: that this world as we know it is about to end.
When you look at the world through the lens of the Bible, you have hope and expectancy knowing that it’s all in the hands of the author of all history: the Almighty God.
Matt 24:2 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
In this Chapter, Jesus is teaching end time events…talking primarily to the Jews.
He looks over the Jewish temple, which had been destroyed in the days of the kings of Israel, but it was rebuilt by Zerubbabel and enlarged by Herod as the disciples talk about it’s magnificence.
Jesus speaks of its destruction: this was fulfilled by Titus in Ad 70.
But the disciples think He’s talking about the end of the world for something that cataclysmic to happen.
So they ask about end time events.
Jesus begins to talk about wars, rumors of wars, nation against nation, he talks about famine, natural disasters like earthquakes he talks about false religion etc. end time events.
Then He talks of the most important happening of the last days:
Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. NKJV
I believe this is talking of the exploits Daniel talked about. God’s people being strong and doing exploits for this purpose: the gospel being preached!
Jesus mentions Daniel in the context of end time events and tells us to understand what he taught.
Jesus recommends to you and me to understand the book of Daniel.
Matt 24:15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand) NKJV
Have you ever read a book by looking at the last chapter first? Let’s start with:
Dan 12:4 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” NKJV
Daniel is given instructions to seal the book until the time of the end: at time of tremendous knowledge and travel (no time when knowledge has been as readily available as today particularly through the internet.)
Dan 12:5-6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?” Kind of the same question the disciples asked Jesus?
Dan 12:8-13 Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, “My Lord, what shall be the end of these things?” 9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.10 Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.
In other words, at this time of the end, the gap between the wicked and the righteous shall be huge.
The world will get darker and darker while the church will understand or increase in revelation knowledge…shine brighter and brighter.
Isaiah talked about this time when the Gentile (former gentiles) church is at its strongest:
Isa 60:1-3 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. NKJV
Back to Daniel 12:11
“And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. 13 “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.” NKJV
This is telling us that the prophecies in the book of Daniel will find meaning at a time when this world is in a major crisis at the end of the age.
So during these last days, the book of Daniel is supposed to give us meaning: to give us courage through crisis.
It’s also supposed to show us the character of God that we are supposed to have in these times of crisis.
DANIEL
Meaning of the name Daniel:
Dan: the tribe of judges
El: God
The name Daniel means God of Judgment and Justice.
In other words, the GOD WHO SETS ALL THINGS RIGHT.
- In the Hebrew culture, a judge was not somebody that was against you. He was somebody that was for you.
- He stood for you and set things right for you.
This book tells us that in the rise and fall of the destiny of nations, God is going to set all things right.
- It gives us the overall picture of the crisis of the end time; amidst the injustices and oppression of the world, God is going to set all things right.
- In all the challenges of this world, God is going to set all things right.
- When it looks like evil is triumphing over righteousness, God is going to set all things right.
- This book should tell you that no matter how the story of your life has been, God is going to set all things right for you.
- The overall picture is that God sets all things right for His people.
No matter how much the forces of hell may be oppressing you, God is going to set all things right in your life.
No matter what is going on in your finances, if you stay with God and put His Word first, He is going to set all things right in your life.
No matter what is going on in your physical body, God is going to set all things right.
No matter the situation in your marriage: don’t give up. God is going to set all things right.
A GENERAL OVERVIEW:
- This book speaks of the Lordship of Jesus Christ over the nations. In Chapter 2 (which we’re not really covering today) Neb had a dream, saw a great stature, which later Daniel interpreted.
- The stature represented kingdoms that would rule the world. However suddenly a stone came out of heaven uncut by human’s hands and it destroyed the statue and became a mountain which filled the whole earth.
- This was referring to Messiah’s kingdom, which is going to be set up at the end of time and it will conquer every kingdom. Jesus Christ Himself will set up this kingdom and His glory will fill the whole earth.
- Daniel ended up being the Empire Predicting Prophet who not only predicted the world governing empires before they came on the scene, first Babylon, second Persia, third Greece, fourth Rome and in the last days another Roman empire where the antichrist would arise.
- Daniel also predicted the exact day and year the Messiah would die. And how for 2,000 years, everything is sealed (During the Church age) and then the revised Roman empire…centered out of Europa would arise.
FOR NOW, WE’LL JUST COVER DANIEL CH. 1
Dan 1:1-8 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah,
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
- 2 Kings: Jehoiakim and Neb
- 2 Cities: Jerusalem and Babylon.
Jerusalem represents all that was right, true, it stands for goodness and greatness, it represented the people of God; Jerusalem is the city of righteousness…the city in which men and women worship the true and living God.
Babylon is an idolatrous city against the principles of God, a city of sin.
In 605 BC when Daniel is about 17 years old, (born about 622BC) Neb attacks
Jerusalem and besieges it. (Neb attacked Jerusalem 3 times: He attacked Jerusalem in 605 BC, 596 BC, and 587BC.)
The first time he attacks 605 BC, he brought Daniel and other young elite men to Babylon.
Second time he attacks and takes 10,000 captives with him and Third time Jerusalem falls into the hands of Babylon.
So in the 3rd year of Jehoiakim’s reign, Judah is facing judgment and evil is seemingly triumphing over good.
Daniel 1:2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.
God allowed this to happen (that’s how He wields judgment) and He still does allow what you allow through rebellion to happen, and He still does allow especially nations to face the music of what they allow corporately.
This is why the prayer of intercession is so vital:
1 Tim 2:1-2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. NKJV
God’s people in nations must humble themselves and seek His face on behalf of those who are in authority so their nation may have a peaceable life of godliness.
He said pray for those in authority and the result would be that you will lead a peaceable life of godliness.
FIRST OF ALL, PRAY FOR ALL MEN in your city and country and the world by praying for those in authority.
Daniel 1:3
Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king’s descendants and some of the nobles, 4 young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans.
YOUNG MEN
The actual Hebrew meaning for the phrase: “young men” is adolescents.
He took the brightest and the best of the children of Israel to educate in them in the university of Babylon, to change their thinking, and to teach them the language of the Chaldeans. (This language was composed of 3 languages.)
The Babylonians were very much learned in medical science, in philosophy, in astronomy, in the occult, in the architecture, etc.
So Daniel is brought into this “prosperous” high-rise city away from his family and home to a different civilization.
- He sees their luxury, their splendor, but also
- He hears their blasphemy and ridicule of the living God of Jerusalem: “If your God is so strong why has your city and his temple fallen!” whose temple they had just destroyed. He sees the temples of their god Bel-maju.
NAME CHANGES
Daniel 1:5 And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king. 6 Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. 7 To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego. NKJV
First thing the Babylonian king did was to change their names. Names in the Bible meant something; they stood for identity.
Example: Jacob’s name was supplanter or deceiver. God changed his name to Israel. And many other name changes in the Bible.
Original Jewish names: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
Their names were changed as: Daniel to Belteshazzar; Hananiah to Shadrach; Mishael to Meshach; and Azariah to Abed-Nego.
Why is it that he would change their names? The changing of their names means the changing of their identity.
The name Daniel means God is my Judge.
Meaning that He will set all things right. I may be a captive in Babylon, but God is going to set all things right. But they changed his name to:
Belteshazzar meant the keeper of the hidden treasures of Bel. (Their god was belmaju.) The treasures that were taken from the temple in Jerusalem were brought into the treasure house of Belmaju one of the Babylonian gods.
This was telling 17-year-old-Daniel, forget about your customs, your Jewishness, forget about your God, forget about His goodness, His worship, His protection, forget about His ways. You’re going to serve pagan gods.
The pressure on Daniel as an adolescence is enormous.
The name Hananiah means: “The Lord is gracious unto me.”
Although I’m in Babylon, the Lord will still be good to me and gracious to me: his name is changed to Shadrack…means worship of the sun, moon and stars. The point is that now you get your inspiration from the pagan gods of the sky.
Mishael means: Godlike. His name was changed to Mishach which means: “Servant of the goddess of Sheba.”
Instead of seeing yourself in the image of God, you’re now into servanthood to one of the female deities of Babylon.
Azariah means: “the Lord is my Helper.” In other words, no matter where I go, the Lord is my Helper. Everyday, I’m helped. His name was changed to Abednego which means servant of nebo.
In other words forget about the help of your God.
They changed their names because they wanted their mindsets to be shaped and their image to be immersed and brainwashed into the culture of the Babylonians.
BUT THEY WERE NOT MOVED!!!
RELEVANCE
One of the MAJOR purposes of the enemy during this season THIS 2020 so called COVID season: is to shape the minds of men and women so that they no longer know themselves and instead accept who they tell you, you-are.
In other words, the enemy is MORE after your identity more than anything else.
As a Christian believer, what shapes your thinking? What shapes our behavior? What has shaped the way people come to church and worship? THE WORD OF GOD. The Word and the Spirit agree.
But in the world in general, what’s shaping people’s thinking?
The media at large, which is controlled by bureaucrats, government officials, military agencies who are listening to the United Nations.
Their motivation is greed, control and socialism so as to force you into a one world government, a one world economy and a one world religion.
All these three have been tested and practiced during the corona crisis.
How you soak yourself into the media is how you’ll shape your thinking.
The Bible says: “as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7).
Example:
We recently watched a video of Bill Gates briefing the CIA. It was about a Vaccine being developed for the control of Religious fundamentalism.
He showed them 2 brain scans; one of a religious fundamentalist, and the other of a ‘normal’ non-religious person.
He explained that these fundamentalists have a certain gene in their brain that causes them to be fanatic.
Explained how this can benefit the country’s national security by vaccinating those fanatics with a vaccine, made of a virus that can stop the over-expression of that gene and calm them down to eliminate that behavior.
So think of that! They have to sell their ideas as being “beneficial to you.”
(Not all the material that is not in main-stream media is a conspiracy theory…a lot of it is our God causing hidden things to come to light.)
THE BODY OF CHRIST MUST PRAY AGAINST THE RISING OF THIS KIND OF THING BY PRAYING FOR THOSE IN AUTHORITY TO BE INFLUENCED AND COUNSELLED RIGHT.
There are some upcoming types of vaccines that will end up being mandatory for everyone, that are tied up to the very identification of who you are.
They’re made in such a way that they penetrate your DNA and change certain things about you particularly your will power.
I’M NOT AN EXPERT IN THIS BUT LET ME READ A FEW HAPPENINGS:
In Italy, they’ve been warned that the word COVID-19 actually means “Certificate of Identification of Vaccination with artificial Intelligence” and 19 is the year it was created and launched in 2020.
It is the name of an international plan for the control and reduction of populations; which has been developed over the last decade and released in 2020.
Mass testing has already begun to be imposed in schools in some European countries (France) and will be followed with mass vaccinations.
The plan is to get the parents through the kids, then family members and immediate contacts. If your kids can’t go to school without being vaccinated, you as a parent will be concerned.
Or, if you can’t travel for business without a covid vaccine certificate, do you see the amount of control that’s in the horizon?
THIS IS WHY WE MUST PRAY FOR THOSE IN AUTHORITY TO REJECT THESE VACCINATIONS: (Follow your own convictions.)
DANIEL, EZEKIEL, JOEL AND JOHN THE REVELATOR
A lot of these things are what the prophet Daniel, Ezekiel, Joel and John in Revelation all wrote about but they are supposed to happen during the great tribulation…NOT WHILE THE CHURCH IS STILL HERE.
Meaning that the church which is full of the Word and knows her identity in Christ and knows the believer’s authority holds the key to whether these things are stopped or not.
The church of this day has the assignment to stop this evil from happening ahead of time. NOT THE DEEP STATE CHURCH! The religious church and interfaith councils have already sold out to the United Nations.
The enemy’s purpose for wanting to release such evil at this time is to stop the harvest.
You may have heard of “trans-humanism.” Taking humans as we know them and melting in artificial intelligence into them.
The COVID-19 vaccine is not like a normal flu vaccine its something completely experimental on humans. This is because there’s something being introduced with this vaccine.
Moderna (Vaccine makers) for example takes stem cells from the body and genetically modifies them. This kind of vaccine causes increased side effects such as cancer rates, increased auto immune reactions that result in for example more lung inflammation. Moderna has developed hydrogels and a Luciferase enzyme or a modified RNA or DNA.
Example: The micro-needle platform. They make this something you can even do to yourself with a tiny bandage with tiny needles that were designed out of a snake viper bite, little snake-bites.
The problem is that they’re using a process that makes genetically modified vegetables (GMO) and making it for humans.
When you’re genetically modified you won’t be as healthy as you should be. They claim it will not affect your genome but it’s not true.
Sometimes they use synthetic DNA. Synthetic DNA is patented and this means that it is owned. This means that once you’re vaccinated with it, you are actually owned and there’s a record and an id left with the owners that show who you are…like a product.
Hydrogel is nanotechnology that is robotic and it is artificial intelligence meaning that a person can now gather information from your body and record it and connect to world-wide info webs.
This is information that can be put in your cell phone and that is part of your future identification.
This information is going to be public so this totally interferes with your privacy. With nanotechnology, you can send or receive information from a body and so they can tell what you have or don’t have in your body. (They have to make it look beneficial.)
Someone called it advancing you from human 1.0 to human 2.0.
Big money names are behind this stuff. Mostly the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation:
Bill comes from a family of Eugenics…people who believe there’re too many people on the planet. His family background and drive is the research of…gene extinction technology. Ted Turner the founder of CNN/ CBS says he believes the world population should be reduced to 2B.
The question is:
Who decides who is going to go and who is going to stay and what gives them that authority?
Military agencies and the Bill and Melinda Foundation are very interested in Gene Drive Technology.
By using genetic mutation, you can exterminate an entire species from the planet.
They propose to use this for destroying mosquitos in Africa. But by exterminating an entire species, you can effect an entire ecosystem.
If we can do it to an insect, we can do it to an animal and eventually we can do it to a human.
Do you trust these guys with your health, with your children?
Did you know that these vaccine developers have zero liabilities over what they do to humans? So there’s no motivation for them to make it safe for us.
So basically, this is the world we find ourselves in. Do your own research. Make your own decisions.
YOUR PART: PRAY, PREACH THE GOSPEL AND LIVE RIGHT!
Brethren, we need to pray and we need to (like DANIEL DID) purpose in our hearts we will not be defiled from being sovereign beings, made in the image of God to some kind of trans-humans who are defiled by artificial intelligence.
Purpose ahead of time: to maintain an abiding fellowship with Jesus Christ in these days. Purpose to pray in the Spirit more than ever before.
There’s never been a more important day for you and I to be consecrated to the will of the Father than it is this day.
Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Daniel was most likely tempted in that foreign country to yield to a new way of life: BUT EVEN AS A YOUTH, HE PURPOSED IN HIS HEART NOT TO BE DEFILED.
(The Word for “heart” here means both spirit and soul) He chose to guard his soul (mind will and emotions) and His spirit. He chose not to be defiled with their ways and foodstuffs.
HE CHOSE TO GUARD HIS HEART!
Prov. 4:23 Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. AMP.
These are the days that you need to be strongly rooted in who you are in Christ in line with the Word and to be attentive to the Anointing in you by whom you know all things and cannot be deceived!
Daniel predetermined that he’d live up to his name that God Almighty alone was his Judge. He didn’t care about being misunderstood.
He’d not eat their defiled meat nor drink their wine. For one, their meat had been offered to idols.
It was unclean meat that he was forbidden to eat such as pork, which they the Babylonians were known to eat and then their meat was not slaughtered right, they didn’t drain the blood like the Jewish people did.
He determined to keep himself healthy by eating right and praying and meditating on the Word of God.
He refused to forget who he was no matter what new Babylonian name they gave him.
He was totally in tune with God throughout his stay in Babylon until he was an old man still worshipping God.
As he stuck with the worship of God, wisdom, good health and promotion came.
Dan 1:17 As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. NKJV
Dan 1:19 Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore, they served before the king. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm. NKJV
Brethren, as we pray for those in authority, NOW, God will cause the devilish counsel of authorities that advise our government contrary to his Word to be turned to foolishness LIKE THE COUNSEL OF AHITHOPHEL.
CONSECRATION:
- In your own life make a fundamental decision that you will live to your convictions that are based on the Word of God in these days.
- Is your worship of God based on whether the government allows you to come to church or not?
Is your life based on what is going on around you, the peer pressure etc.?
- As you give today, make up your mind that you will guard your heart with all vigilance AND as we take communion today:
- That Spiritual things will be a priority in your life.
- That you will refocus your life to prayer.
You do your part, and God will do His part. Amen!
As we give today, this is our worship of God our Provider. We don’t bow to any other God or government as our Source. What a mighty God we serve. The God of Daniel is our God and He is making all things right in our lives.
- Father thank You that I have an anointing from You to know all things and to never be deceived.
- I hail from God and I have overcome the evil one and his influences for greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world.
- We declare that the glory of God shall fill this earth as the waters cover the sea: in Jesus name.
(1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. NKJV
1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. NKJV)
