BEARING FRUIT Prt 5
THEME SCRIPTURE: John 15:1
I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit (John 15:1 – 15:2 ESV)
Dear Saints,
I hope you had a supernatural week. One of the secrets of the life of faith is expectancy. Am always looking forward to something supernatural happening to me on daily basis. My “expectors” (if there is a word like that) are always alert. Stay alert.
We are still on our subject of bearing fruit. This is a must for every believer. Last week we discovered what kind of fruit to bear from the book of Galatians 5:22,23 which tells us exactly what kind of fruit to “bear”.
Galatians 5:22,23
- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
- Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
The first component of the fruit of The Spirit is love, we talked about it in our bulletin last week. What is love anyway? Whats the character of love? Let’s start with what love is from Webster’s dictionary:
It is: a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person; a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
Please keep in mind, whatever God tell us to do to one another, He does to us. So, because God loves us, it means He has a profoundly tender, passionate affection for us with a feeling of a warm personal attachment, and a deep affection……that’s how our Father loves us.
To bear this component of the fruit of the Spirit, we must love one another in the same manner God loves us. If we do this, we cannot talk ugly about anyone, including our church and leadership, we cannot back bite, we cannot hate, or despise each other. Like any “bearing”, fruit bearing can be hard and painful but it can be done, we as the children of love must lOVE. No IFs or BUTs about it. After all, God knows we can.
The character or behavior of love is best described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
Please read and carefully consider what these are all about.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4.Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up.
- It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful.
- It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth.
- It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
- Love never ends………(NEV), or (KJV, Love never fails………).
The next component of the fruit that we must bear is JOY. Check it out in the next SPREADING THE LIGHT BULLETIN…..remain blessed.
