BEARING FRUIT Prt 6
THEME SCRIPTURE: John 15:1 and Galatians. 5:22-23
John 15:1
I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit (John 15:1 – 15:2 ESV)
Gal. 5:22-23
- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
- Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Dear Saints,
I trust that you had a good week as you read the characteristics of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. If you did, thank you and please read again. I insist on this because, hidden in the understanding of “love” is God’s attitude toward you.
If you can understand and fully believe God’s love for you, you will never have a problem trusting Him.
You will be filled with the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19 … Think about it.
Through God’s love and its characteristics, we can understand why He commands us to bear the next component of the fruit of the Spirit, which is JOY. (See Gal. 5:22). Imagine a world of no conflicts, no stress, everybody loves you, and wants the best for you, nobody stealing your stuff, no corruption, no one envious of what you have, and if you don’t have they give to you and so forth……that’s what love does. Sounds like heaven on earth. Spiritually, God wants you and me to live that way, by faith. No anxiety and NO CARES whatsoever. The result is supernatural joy.
The confidence you have in God’s love, and that ALL THINGS concerning you are taken care of brings supernatural joy in believing. This supernatural joy comes only from the God of the supernatural. To experience it, we must be in the presence of the “Supernatural” God. Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
God wants us to stay in His presence where every need is met. The opposite of this is also true. In His ABSENCE all needs are not met, there is no joy or reason to rejoice. The knowledge that your needs are met evokes the supernatural joy in spite of circumstances. You just have that joy because you know someone is working on your situation.
Bearing this component of the fruit of the Spirit is not dependent on what you have or don’t have. Rather, it is dependent on your connection to the “vine”.
In reality, this is not your joy. It is the joy of the Lord.
John 15
11These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This joy of the Lord gives you strength to go on and when the dust settles, you will still be standing. It is not true that you can always be joyful. But by faith you can. Joy is an attitude. You decide to be joyful or not joyful. You can be joyful in The Lord, or not joyful with the “opposition”. Hahaha. Either way, You choose. Till next week, rejoice in the Lord.
