GOING FOR THE HARVEST
ONE A WEEK pt 7
DISCOVERING YOUR CALLING.
Ephesians 4:11, 12
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
Dear Saints,
I thank God He is speaking to us and revealing what He has called each one of us to do. It’s a tragedy to live a whole life and die without discovering what you are created for. You have a purpose. Your challenge in life is to discover that purpose. Am glad that God is giving us a starting point.
In our bulletin last week, we posed the question, what work of the ministry are you called into? This is the issue we want to cover in this bulletin. Ephesians 4:11 and 12,
Verse 12 says:
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
A clue is here given that all believers are to do the work of the ministry. This implies any work that pertains to ministry, such as ushering, cleaning the church, serving in any capacity within the local church including home visits, hospital visits and the likes. Every believer ought to be doing something in the church, without exception. This is but the starting point God has provided for everyone. There is however the clearly spelt out ministerial calling that qualifies every child of God to His great service.
2 Corinthians 5:18
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
Besides serving in the local church, this is your ministerial calling, the ministry of reconciliation. This calling is for every born again Christian. It is from this service you will be promoted and given more responsibility in the Kingdom. You are called to reconcile mankind to God. Check out the first statement from the above verse: “………… who (God) hath reconciled us to himself….”
This is powerful because GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO WHAT HE DOES.
First He reconciles you to Himself, and then gives you all qualities of reconciliation, the love, the compassion, courage, boldness and indeed, all that you need for that ministry to reconcile others to Him. This is the work of the ministry, the job description for the saints of God.
The word “reconcile” implies a lost or strained friendship and or relationship.
Your responsibility as a believer is to be a “go between”, to bring back together two estranged entities to renew friendship and relationship. To bring back to God that which He so loved……mankind. This is the plan of God, it is why Jesus came, and it is why you are born again. This is of great importance to God, it’s God’s heartbeat. It is your ministry. There are no “ifs” or “buts” about it. JUST DO IT.
See you next week. We love you.
REMEMBER, we want to hear what God is doing in your life, let’s celebrate the goodness of our God together. Be a blessing, Invite someone, win ONE A WEEK, YOU CAN DO IT. Tell your friends to watch our “Faith Life” program on Kingdom TV, every Sunday @ 6 pm and Monday @ 3 pm.
