THE PAST- A MEAL WITH A LEPPER

THE PAST

A MEAL WITH A LEPPER

Mark 14:3

And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

4. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

Dear Saints,

May grace and peace abide in you. From the above story we see

Several things we can learn from. There are three groups of people;

A man with outstanding hospitality, an extravagant giver, and complainers.

Simon the Leper is an example of one who is very hospitable.

He invited people (including Jesus) to diner and while food was in preparation, he sat with the master. This man was hungry for God.

He figured that the best way to be close to the Master is to invite Him to his house. He was a giving man. He invited many people who all came to have a meal. Suddenly a well-known woman comes into the house and heads straight on to where the Master was sitting.

The fragrance of the broken box of spikenard oil filled the room as she started extravagantly pouring the oil on Jesus. This was her way of worship. There was nothing she could not give. She gave literally the best, and probably the most expensive oil. She was a giver and a worshipper who chose to forget her past, now that she is with the Master.

The third group are complainers. They are never satisfied or fulfilled

They never do anything to contribute to the welfare of their habitation. We find these people in Simon’s house. Child of God,

Where in these groups do you fit in? Hospitality, giving, or a complainer? Till next week, stay blessed.
