Precious Saints,
We began to define grace as what flows to us out of our gracious God by giving you Scriptures that show us that God is not a withholder but One that’s looking for every opportunity to be good to you.
Let’s continue looking at Scriptures that show us the riches of God’s grace towards us so we can partake of it. This is one way to see and to partake what flows out of our gracious heavenly Father. Remember that faith (to receive anything) comes by hearing and hearing by God’s Word.
Romans 10:12 tells us that the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him no matter their background; Jew or Gentile. When you call upon the Lord, remember He’s rich towards you. Therefore, we need to keep renewing our minds on these facts: “God you’re generous to me. God you’re rich towards me. You’re no respecter of persons and you’re as interested in blessing me as you are in blessing anybody else on the face of the earth. You’re freely bestowing every benefit upon me because I call upon you.”
Look at
Eph.1:6 :
“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.“ KJV
The reason we’re accepted by God is because of the glory of His grace. He’s gracious enough to do that. He’s accepted you through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Eph. 1:7-8 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence. KJV
You can see that it’s through the riches of His grace that we have been redeemed using the costly currency of His Blood. In that same rich grace, He has abounded towards us. That’s another definition of Grace. Grace is God abounding towards us. One dictionary explains to abound as to be “very plentiful, to exist in large numbers or to overflow.”
The Philips translation puts Eph. 1:7-8 as: “It is through Him, at the cost of His own Blood that we are redeemed, freely forgiven through that free and generous grace which has overflowed into our lives and given us wisdom and insight.” Wow! Free and generous grace! Grace is that element of God’s nature that overflows into our lives. His love and compassion towards us simply overflows. It has to be released towards us.
So many Scriptures show us the abundance of the graciousness of God. Like this one:
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. NKJV
God who gives to all men liberally; that means He gives a whole lot. He doesn’t just measure what He gives with an eye-dropper, God gives liberally.
Another way to see Grace as what flows from our gracious God is to look at the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is going to be good! Sometimes we say that something is personified in an individual. We could say that so and so personifies courage. Or So and so personifies hospitality. Some of you have had grandmas like that. They personify hospitality.
We could says this: “Grace was demonstrated and personified in the person and the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jesus Christ is grace personified. Let’s continue from here next week. Its’ going to be great!
