Dearest brethren,
As we shared in the last bulletin, if we’re to be sustained by the goodness of the Lord, we must be convinced that He is good and only does good. As the Bible says in Hebrews 11:6, he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a Rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. We must be convinced that He rewards and gives good things to us upon approach. It has to do with trusting His character.
Ps 34:8 Oh taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! NKJV
Other translations say: find out for yourself that God is good. It should be our quest to find out what’s of God and what’s not of Him in this life, and to make sure we make our lives line up with what’s of Him.
We are supposed to prove what’s the good and perfect will of God as we renew our minds and then to hate evil and cleave to what’s good.
(Romans 12:2, 12:9)
As we shared last week, if you want good, think good, speak good and do good. Think good about God. Although God does pass judgment concerning evil, He does it against His own will. See Lamentations 3:33. We know it is NOT His will that any should perish. (Matt.18:14, 2 Peter 3:9, John 3:16, Ezek. 18:31-32, 33:11). Study these Scriptures out of your own Bible and you’ll notice how much God yearns to see you escape judgment.
All good comes out of God. (James 1:17). Everything God created, as recorded in Genesis 1, was all GOOD. And since you and I are born of God, there is good in us. You are supposed to be acknowledging every good thing that is IN YOU in Christ Jesus. If the good in you came out of God, He must be very good. He does good in and through us. This is why the Bible says over and over that we should do good works. We’re like that good tree that bears good fruit. (Matt. 7:17). This is why too that you should see good in other brethren.
Remember, all things work out together for good for a very specific kind of people. Those who love God and are called according to His purpose. And this Scripture is in the context of praying in the Spirit or of people who pray in the Spirit. (See Romans 8:26-28)
Once we invite God to the issues in our lives, even when the enemy meant them to be for evil, God turns them around for good. Why? Because, He is a good God. Brethren, you can trust His goodness.
