Dear FHFC brothers and sisters,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
When we begin a new year, it is always a good time for self-evaluation so as to make sure one is in the right track following the plan of God.
The Bible says in Psalms 127:1 that:
“Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.”
It is important to do a self-inventory before the Lord to make sure that you are allowing Him to build your life for you and with you instead of trying to build it yourself apart from Him. He’s the builder but He must have your cooperation.
God gave us an instruction manual for life: the Bible, and it is when we follow the instructions therein that our lives turn out according to God’s plan. God’s instructions always give us a very definite sequence of steps to follow. When you read the instructions, you know which steps to take first and what decisions to make.
It is important to realize that decisions determine direction and direction determines destiny. If you keep doing things the same way, you should not expect different results. Many people make “New Year’s Resolutions” so as to take a different direction for their lives, only to abandon their “resolutions” in one or two months. This is because they did not seek the wisdom of God and His help for their decisions.
The Lord Jesus Himself said in Rev 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Whatever we do, we better make sure that we begin with Him who is the Beginning and the End. Let me give you a clue. The Bible says that Jesus is made unto us wisdom. (1 Cor. 1:30) The Bible also tells us to get wisdom and with all our getting, to get understanding. The Bible also tells us of a man who asked God for an understanding heart and God loaded him with much wisdom plus He also gave him riches and honor. (See 1 Kings 3:9-13) Brethren when you ask God for wisdom, you are doing the first things first. His wisdom will show you how to put first things first.
Prov. 4:7-8 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.” NKJV
During this season of the beginning of the year, I urge you to seek the Lord for His wisdom for the new year. Ask Him to fill you with the knowledge of His will for 2016 in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. (Col. 1:9) Desire it more than anything else. If you will seek for wisdom as you seek for money, you will find it very difficult to fail in the New Year and beyond. (See Prov. 2:3)
Look at Ps 1:1-3
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, – – – – – 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. NKJV
The Blessed man follows the counsel of the Lord. You too can make your life to be as fruitful as a tree planted by river. If you will delight in God’s Word (His Word is His Wisdom) you will definitely thrive this year. You will be flourishing like a tree planted by the river if you will put His Wisdom (His Word) first place in your life, meditating on it and doing it every day.
Happy New Year!!!
