WISDOM SERIES:PART 4

24HOW TO AVOID DEMONIC WISDOM

Dear precious brethren,

In last week’s bulletin, we began talking about the three kinds of wisdom the Bible talks about:

  1. The world’s wisdom
  2. Devilish wisdom
  3. The wisdom of God

We found out that the wisdom of this world is corrupted and cannot be trusted. It is crafty and deceptive.

Look at 1 Cor.3:18-20

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; 20 and again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” NKJV

So outside of God, there is no trustworthy wisdom. Proverbs shows us that

there is no wisdom or understanding or counsel against the LORD.   (Prov. 21:30 NKJV)

In other words any wisdom that is contrary to God’s wisdom is not wisdom at all. The beginning of true wisdom is the reverential fear of the Lord. (See Psalms 111:10, Prov. 1:7, Prov. 9:10)

The other kind of “wisdom” the Bible talks of is devilish wisdom. Certainly that is wisdom you don’t want. How is devilish wisdom like?

James 3:14-18 14

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. NKJV

So you can see that devilish wisdom is characterized by envy and selfishness and it results in strife, confusion and every evil thing.

King James Version says, James 3:16

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” KJV

Brethren, you cannot afford to have the demonic wisdom of strife in your house. You should avoid strife like the plague. You should kill it like you would a poisonous snake. If you let it in your home, it will bite you. Cast it out!

Instead, pray over yourself, your family members and those in authority over you to be endowed with the wisdom from heaven. The Bible says that the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield to reason and merciful. It brings forth good fruit instead of confusion.

Till next bulletin, determine to keep strife out of your life and instead

embrace the wisdom from above.
